Best PostSecret Ever

I totally relate because people laugh at me for my immature taste in literature as well. Now I know what I am going to do to them... haha

PERSEC

I went to the commissary yesterday. It was crowded, as usual, and as I am walking through the parking lot, I lost count of all the vehicles that have "Half My Heart is in Iraq" stickers on the back.

Seriously, people! Why don't they just standing in middle of the parking lot and scream "Hey, everybody!! My husband is deployed!! Feel free to follow me home and break into my house and attack me while I am asleep!!"

Why would anyone want to advertise that they are alone? There are too many creeps out there for that. So please PLEASE, if you have one of those stickers on the back of your vehicle, take it off! I know that you are proud of your husband and with very good reason to be proud, but don't put yourself at risk. Remember to put your personal safety first.

As military spouses, we all practice OPSEC, right? Well it is also important to practice PERSEC, or personal security. Keep that in mind when you put stickers on your car or when you talk to people you don't know.

I just want everyone to be safe!

What the hell?

I was trying to watch the VMAs tonight. Pretty much only because the cast of Twilight would be on. Yeah, right. For like two seconds and Robert Pattinson didn't even get a word in.

But the first 15 mintues of the thing? BARF. Russell Brand (who the hell is this guy?) with his very inappropriate political comments and cracks against Republicans was too annoying for me. I wanted to kick him in the teeth every time he opened his mouth.

BOO to MTV (who I hate anyway) for choosing such a terrible Terrible TERRIBLE host for the VMAs.

*VOMIT* *BARF* and various other ways to portray the fact that the VMAs made me want to upchuck all over my TV.

Autumn Reading List

If you looked at my summer reading list, you would have noticed that I did not even come close to finishing it as there were several big titles left on it to read. Like The Stand. (Which I am working on, I promise Lindsay!)

I have moved those over to my Autumn reading list and will be adding a few more as well. I have started classes though, so most of the reading I have been doing as of late is class required. I don't have as much time for fun reading as I would like.

And I am trying to stick in a few classic titles. My brother is a literature nut and my sister is an English teacher, so the fact I have not read Of Mice and Men and Lolita is "terrible." Apparently, I have fallen behind on my George Orwell as well. I will have to hit the used book store to find all these titles because I am not paying $16 for a 100 page Steinbeck book.

If you have any book suggestions, drop me an email and I will add it to my list. skcrich [at] gmail.com

I was harassed by MPs last night

So last night, darling husband decided that he wanted Sonic. I needed to get a few bags of ice anyway (our ice maker is broken) and the Jr. Banana Split was calling my name.

Lalala, I was on my way home with the ice and drinks when I pulled into the north part of my village. As I was driving, I passed an MP going the other direction and they slammed on their brakes and pulled into a driveway, backed out and proceeded to follow me and the car right behind me. I made sure I wasn't speeding even though the car behind me was tailgating me. They ran a stop sign after I went through it so I thought for sure the the MP would follow them and pull them over. No such luck. They followed me a little longer (tailgating of course) and then turned off and (I am assuming) went around the block.

But when I pulled up on the grass into my courtyard to drive up to my house, they were right behind me again. I was driving up because I had to unload the ice and I wasn't making two trips down to the car to get everything that I got at Sonic earlier. So they followed me all the way across the courtyard (again, tailgating) and pulled up behind me when I parked behind the house.

I got out of the car and started unloading things and just basically ignored them. So they shined their spot light on me (no joke) and TWO MPs got out of the car to talk to me.

MP1: Sorry to inconvenience you, but you know you are not allowed to park back here.
MP2: (glares at me and shines a flashlight on me)
Me: Yes, I am aware of that. Housing gives us permission to drive up here to unload groceries. I have a few bags of ice to unload and then I am taking the car down to the parking area.
MP1: Well, I noticed the tracks and other cars up here parking too. I just wanted to warn you that there is no parking.
DH: Yeah, there are six other cars in the courtyard right now...
MP1: Yes, but I followed HER up here (like I was the bad influence or something)
Me: Well, I promise to take the car down as soon as I am done. Really.
MP2: (continues to glare)
MP1: Be sure to do that. There is absolutely no parking up here. (as I count three other cars just behind the houses, not including the three out front)

And even better? They didn't even say anything to the other parked at the other units. And the very best part? They actually waited to make sure that we took the car back down. True story.

Fort Bragg's finest. Harassing the women with her ice from Sonic. It was just so bizarre and annoying. Talk about making an impression....
