I saw Watchmen on Friday.
I have had to take a few days to think about it. The first thing I would like to mention was that the visual effects were quite amazing.
I don't know how to review it without comparing it to the graphic novel, though. I think if one hasn't read the graphic novel, they may be very confused and lost through most of the movie. Stuart was and I found this to be a disappointment.
Overall, I did like it. They were fairly true to the book, but the few things they changed were major changes. The story was kept essentially the same, but yet it was completely different. I don't know how to say what I mean without it being confusing.
Watchmen the movie was very very violent. Much more than necessary in my opinion.
And while the music in the movie was just great, the music placement was very strange and I almost felt overwhelmed by it in places. Kind of like Twilight, the movie was distracting.
I would never recommend this movie to anyone because it is one of those that is extremely difficult to gauge whether someone would like it or not. I am glad that I watched it and I will probably buy it, but Stuart didn't like it which really threw me for a loop. Just goes to show how people perceive movies differently.
It was worth the 8 bucks anyway.
