PODs

Our POD came today for us to start packing up.

We went the POD route this time around because I have heard too many horror stories of storage spaces being broken into around Fort Bragg. Plus, Uhaul won't rent us a trailer because of the soft-top on the Jeep and we don't want to pay to put gas in a truck. Plus, it is just easier: they drop it off and then pick it up? Yes, please!

We have never used a POD before. Therefore, when we made our reservation we reserved the biggest one.

Yeah... the ones that are sitting in the parking lots of the PX and Commissary for advertisement purposes? Those are not the biggest size. The biggest size is huge. Way bigger than we will ever need. I had no idea that it would be as monstrous as it is.

At $105 a month, it is still cheaper than a storage space of comparable size. Hopefully it will successfully store all of our crap for a year.

You might want to ask me in a year how much I like our POD, but for right now I will just say that so far I am very impressed.

Wow, that sounds definently easier than actually trying to move yourself! I hope it works out well, but hey, at least you have extra space just in case!

good luck packing! we looked into pods when we thought we might have to pcs with some time in between. I'm curious to hear what you think about them further down the line.

We found using pods so much easier than renting a truck! After LOTS of moves using our own car and renting a Uhaul rig (which I won't comment on), we looked into this. Why didn't we use them before I'm not sure. I'd recommend Door to Door - http://www.doortodoor.com. Their pods are a bit smaller but they're much easier to deal with and can be placed just about anywhere.
